Darlington Okinawa Kobudo
Darlington Okinawa Kobudo originates from the Matayoshi Ryu of Kobudo in Okinawa. This style of martial arts incorporates the use of weapons, such as:
Shinko Matayoshi
  • Bo (staff),
  • Nunchaku, (flail),
  • Tonfa, (side handle baton),
  • Kama (sickle)
  • Nuntei (fisherman's gavel), and
  • Surichin (weighted rope) etc.
Shinpo Matayoshi
to name a few of the 12 weapons studied in the System.
The use of the weapons allows you to attain the balance between unarmed and armed martial arts. This martial art has evolved from Okinawa over many centuries; peasants used this art to defend their families and territories from aggressive attackers. The style’s history has been integrated into the teaching of the Kobudo classes: you can discover more about the evolution and development of the ancient and traditional art of Kobudo.
